HWC Giving Back - All proceeds from Kuchinate products sold on Handle With Care go to the NGO to support their important work. Kuchinate (crochet in Tigrinya) is a collective of African asylum seeking women living in Tel Aviv, Israel. The women design and create handmade textile products using traditional African fabrics. They also host crochet lessons, meals, and traditional Ethiopian and Eritrean coffee ceremonies.
Bambula means doll in Tigrinya, the language of Eritrea and Ethiopia.The dolls are handmade by African refugees in Israel. Each doll is sewn, stuffed, embroidered and decorated by the women of Kuchinate. The dolls are made of cotton fabrics, the clothing is inspired by African colors and styles. The fabrics change according to availability.
